Wuyuan's 4 Ancient Villages: Sixiyan Village, Hongcun Village, Hongguan Village, and Houtang Village (Shangrao, Jiangxi Province).

Sixiyan Village is located in Siyan Town, Wuyuan County, Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, about 13 km from Ziyang Town. The scenic area consists of Sixi and Yan villages, with a rich history and cultural heritage. The main attractions include ancient residences, merchant houses, mountain houses, winding alleys, ancient bridges and wells, exquisite "three carvings" (brick, stone, and wood carvings), and inscriptions. Sixiyan Village was built in the 5th year of the Southern Song Dynasty (1199) and has a history of over 800 years. It is one of the representative villages of Huizhou Confucian merchants. Hongcun Village is one of the attractions on the northern line of Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province. According to the village records, Hongcun was built in the early Northern Song Dynasty and was named "Changshou Guli" in the Qing Dynasty. It is a village inhabited by the Hong family, located in a narrow and winding valley surrounded by mountains and streams. It is a place to relax and unwind. Hongguan Ancient Village was built in the Southern Song Dynasty and is known as "the first pass of the ancient Huizhou-Raozhou road." At the head of the village, there is an ancient camphor tree over 1,000 years old, 26.1 meters high, with a diameter of 3.4 meters and a crown of three acres. It is known as the "First Camphor Tree in Jiangnan." Hongguan Village is located at the southern end of Gaohu Mountain, the second highest peak in Wuyuan. The village is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a beautiful natural landscape. Houtang Village is a picturesque ancient village named after the "sign of fish entering the pond." The village is hilly, with forests, tea gardens, fields, and lakes. The natural water system is well developed, with rivers and streams crisscrossing, trees shading, and ancient trees in groups. The village entrance is home to over 1,000 endangered wild nanmu trees, a national second-class protected plant. The lakeside is wide and green, with tea gardens and white geese playing on the lake.
