[Famous cherry blossom spot in Shanghai] Gucun Park, known to all Shanghainese

Gucun Park, famous for its cherry blossoms, is located in Baoshan District in the north of Shanghai, and is a huge park with a circumference of just over 10km. There are 16,000 cherry trees planted, with a wide variety of varieties, including Japanese Kawazu cherry, Somei Yoshino, double cherry, Hatsubijin cherry, Guangzhou cherry, Fujian cherry, and Taiwanese cherry. It is one of the most popular cherry blossom spots in Shanghai. The cherry blossom festival is held every year from mid-March, and before COVID-19, it was so popular that an average of 150,000 people visited per day. (I went last year, but it was so crowded that it was difficult to move forward.) This time, I went on March 4th, a little early. The early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms were about 30% in bloom (apparently a little later this year), but the cherry blossom trees were starting to bloom in some places, and there were few people, so I was able to take my time looking around. The early-blooming cherry blossoms are around the "Sakura Variety Garden" near Gate 3, and I think they will be at their best in about a week. I think the area around Gate 2 will also be at its best in late March. There are also dinosaur and bird theme parks in the park (additional charge), which are popular with families.
