Visiting Shanghai, I chose a newly opened youth hostel

Last weekend, I made a special trip to Shanghai for a concert. Since the venue was far from downtown, I stayed at a youth hostel near the train station. Unexpectedly, this place became a delightful surprise, especially when I was exhausted after the show—its convenience and comfort really stood out. The hassle-free transportation was the biggest plus. The concert ended around 11 PM, and the crowd poured out with hundreds waiting for taxis. Fortunately, the hostel was just a 3-4 minute walk from the subway station (direct access via Line 1), so I could get back effortlessly by checking my phone. The next day, I leisurely had breakfast before walking just 10 minutes to Shanghai Railway Station for my train—no need to rush at all. The price felt especially reasonable in that context. Concert expenses added up, but a bed here cost about the same as a drink and a sandwich at the venue—much cheaper than nearby budget hotels. It offered basic amenities like private lockers, stable WiFi, and 24-hour hot water, making it a practical choice for budget-conscious concertgoers. Returning late at night, the clean details instantly put me at ease. Covered in the stuffy heat and faint glow stick residue from the venue, I was greeted by a bright, fresh bathroom with spotless tiled floors and sinks. The shower had ample, steady hot water, washing away fatigue perfectly. The most reassuring part was the restroom: the toilet seat always had a fresh disposable cover, and the floor was dry and slip-free—no need to tread carefully when dead tired, which felt incredibly thoughtful.
