Absolutely breathtaking

Journey Through Millennia! Ancient Egyptian Civilization Creates a Mysterious Storm in Shanghai In the concrete jungle of the city, a cross-temporal dialogue of civilizations is unfolding! Have you ever fantasized about having an intimate encounter with the mysterious civilization of ancient Egypt without flying halfway around the globe? Now, this dreamlike scenario has become a reality in Shanghai! As a travel blogger who deeply explores world civilizations, I can't wait to share this mind-blowing, wonderful journey with all of you. Egypt, as one of the four great ancient civilizations, shines like a pearl in the river of history. The pyramids that have stood for thousands of years tell the story of the pharaohs' pursuit of eternity with their magnificent grandeur; the mysterious mummies carry the unique understanding of life's cycle by ancient Egyptians; the solemn and exquisite temples witness the devotion and passion of ancient Egyptian religious beliefs. These once-unreachable cultural treasures that could only be glimpsed in books or on television screens are now gathered in Shanghai, unveiling their mysterious faces at the #Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition at the Shanghai Museum. Stepping into the Shanghai Museum feels like entering a time tunnel, instantly transported back to the banks of the Nile thousands of years ago. In the exhibition hall, precious artifacts are quietly displayed, yet they seem alive, silently telling the stories of ancient Egypt. Look at those exquisite stone carvings—delicate lines outline the faces and expressions of ancient Egyptians, with each carving seemingly containing endless meaning. Those colorful fragments of murals, though eroded by time, still allow us to feel the superb skills of ancient Egyptian artists and their love for life. In the exhibition, the most astonishing items are the well-preserved mummies. Wrapped in layers, they lie quietly in their coffins, as if waiting to tell people about their glory and honor in life. Around the mummies, ancient Egyptians developed a complex and mysterious funeral culture. They firmly believed that the soul would not perish after death, and as long as the body was preserved well, the soul would have a place to return, thus achieving immortality. This reverence for life and yearning for eternity led me into deep contemplation. In modern society, how different is our understanding of life? Besides the mummies, those exquisite temple models and artifacts also allow us to glimpse the full picture of ancient Egyptian religious beliefs. Ancient Egyptians worshipped many gods, believing that deities ruled everything in the world. Temples were the dwellings of gods on earth and sacred places for people to communicate with deities. The construction of each temple was extremely particular—from site selection to design, from carving to painting—all containing profound religious implications. Here, we can feel the devotion of ancient Egyptians to their gods and understand the important position religion held in their lives. This Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition is not just a display of artifacts but a cultural feast. It allows us to appreciate the charm and connotation of ancient Egyptian civilization in Shanghai, a modern city. Through these precious artifacts, we seem to have a conversation across time and space with ancient Egyptians, learning about their life, beliefs, art, and technology. Meanwhile, this exhibition also makes us realize how rich and colorful human civilization is, with each civilization having its unique value and significance. Dear friends, if you are also curious about ancient Egyptian civilization, if you also want to personally experience this civilization feast spanning thousands of years, don't miss the #Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition at the Shanghai Museum. Here, you can not only gain knowledge but also harvest a sense of awe and emotion. Trust me, this exhibition will definitely become one of the most unforgettable memories of your journey! Come share your expectations about ancient Egyptian civilization in the comments section—you might even find like-minded friends to explore with!

#discoverchina One can never visit Shanghai without visiting the iconic Shanghai Museum. If one were to do so, it’s like a man missing the opportunity to get culturally educated and inspired and it is one of the best curated museums in Shanghai. As it was their local school holiday on the date of our visit, the entrance was extremely crowded with long queues of visitors. It could be the tight security screening at the entrance that hindered the queue from shortening quickly. We spent at least half an hour to queue in order to enter the museum. Inside the museum, there were different levels catering to different types of artifacts and history to be shared. During my visit the 1st floor of the museum has been occupied by a big Egyptian special exhibit (which charges a quite high entrance fee, and doesn’t seem to warrant a visit), the content of the 3rd floor of the museum has been moved out to the Shanghai Museum East Building. The available exhibits are Marco Polo special exhibit (on the 2nd floor), and the All things glittering exhibit, the Ming-Qing Furniture exhibit, and the Chinese Minority Nationality Art exhibit on the 4th floor. The entire exhibit can be visited in about a hour.
