Visiting the East Building of the Shanghai Museum (VII): Porcelain from the Song, Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties

The East Building of the Shanghai Museum, located on Century Avenue in Pudong New District, Shanghai, was officially opened in December last year. There are 20 exhibition halls in the museum, including 8 permanent exhibition halls such as the Bronze Hall, Calligraphy Hall, Painting Hall, Seal Carving Hall, Ceramics Hall, Currency Hall, Sculpture Hall, and Jade Hall. All of them are introduced in the order of ancient Chinese history, with exhibits covering a wide range of ages and categories. Each permanent exhibition hall can be called a "museum hall" of the corresponding category. This article introduces the essence of porcelain from the Song Dynasty, Liao Dynasty, Jin Dynasty, Western Xia Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty on display in the "Ancient Chinese Ceramics" exhibition hall on the 3rd floor of the Shanghai Museum's East Hall: 1️⃣ Porcelain from the "Five Famous Kilns" (Figures 2-7) ⭐⭐Northern Song Dynasty Ru kiln green glaze plate A representative work of Ru kiln porcelain handed down from generation to generation. The body of the jar is decorated with blue and white, and can be divided into five layers from top to bottom.
