Fengjing Ancient Town (Jinshan, Shanghai) Fengjing Ancient Town is located in the southwest of Shanghai and belongs to Jinshan District of Shanghai. It is located at the junction of five districts (counties) and ten towns (townships) in Shanghai and Zhejiang. It is the most important gateway for Shanghai to the southwestern provinces. It has a history of 1,500 years and is called "the root of Wu and the corner of Yue" because it is located at the intersection of Wu and Yue. Fengjing Ancient Town was established as a village in the Southern Liang Dynasty, a city in the Song Dynasty, and a town in the Yuan Dynasty, named "Bainiu Town". It was renamed Fengjing Town in the late Ming Dynasty. Historically, it was divided into two towns by the City River. The town is densely covered with water networks and numerous bridges, and is known as "two bridges every three steps and ten lanes in sight". There are 29 streets and alleys and 84 lanes in the town. The total area of ​​preserved ancient buildings is 48,750 square meters. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient water town in Shanghai. It is also a "model" for Shanghai to protect and develop natural villages and towns with Jiangnan water town characteristics and traditional cultural characteristics. There are 639 celebrities recorded in history, including Lu Jia, a famous prime minister in the Tang Dynasty, Zhu Xuefan, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Cheng Shifa, a master of traditional Chinese painting, and Ding Cong, a cartoonist, and other famous people. Since the 1970s, "Jinshan Peasant Painting" has emerged. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, it became one of the "Four Famous Towns" in the south of the Yangtze River, and was known as "clothing the world and providing food to all directions." The four treasures of Fengjing (dingti, rice wine, dried tofu, and zhuangyuan cake) are famous both at home and abroad. Among them, Fengjing dingti won the gold medal at the Panama International Exposition in 1915, and the Jinfeng brand rice wine won the national silver medal.
