Please make sure to stay at this affordable hotel when you come to Shanghai

Hilton's presence in Shanghai has never been very strong. Xiangyuan Hilton is located in Hongqiao Gubei. After going through ownership changes (the original owner Yuanyi's Hefei Yuanyi Hilton was auctioned but failed to sell), it mainly caters to business travelers. There are high-end restaurants like Xinrongji and Yingzuo at the bottom. The rooms have been gradually renovated over the past few years, and they are relatively new. The area is decent (all room types start at 45 square meters), but the floors are full of dirty white scratches. It's unclear whether this is an issue with individual rooms or a general problem. The curtains controlled by electric switches also have issues; the switch doesn't respond, and you need to pull them manually to operate. The executive lounge's afternoon tea and happy hour are quite good, and the decor is commendable, comparable to a regular Western restaurant. It meets the needs of those who want to relax in the hotel, but if you have a particular taste, it's recommended to eat outside. Although Gubei is not as bustling as the city center, you can feel the comfort and tranquility of the residential area. It's nice to walk around the nearby streets, and there are also amenities like Takashimaya. The hotel doesn't have much of a view, but the bathtub faces Gubei No. 1, which might count as a view 🤔. For the Hilton brand, this hotel is already considered high-end. Although it's positioned as a business hotel, it's also a good choice for a weekend staycation in Shanghai. The breakfast in the lounge and the lobby maintains Hilton's usual style. The lounge is quiet, and the lobby breakfast offers a wide variety of options. There are more people in the hotel this time compared to my last visit, which is understandable given its proximity to the airport.
