Citywalk: Beautiful and Story-filled Century-old Buildings at the Origin of the Bund

Located at the confluence of the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek, the Origin of the Bund is a historic and cultural district, known as the source of the Bund's World Architecture Expo. In the early morning, under the dawn light, the area around the buildings is shaded with greenery and lawns, clean and tranquil. A dozen Western-style old buildings built in the 1920s and 1930s each have their own unique features. Whether it is the architectural shape and structure, or the marble or simple red brick facades, they all possess appreciable architectural artistry. These buildings are listed in Shanghai's directory of outstanding historical buildings. Many buildings are open to the public, where you can touch the details of the architecture, and some are hosting exhibitions. The Bund Origin No. 1 was originally the main building of the British Consulate, with banners promoting the Sino-French Women's Film Project hanging outside. These buildings have weathered the vicissitudes of time, leaving behind history and stories. Now, there are informational signs on the walls of these old buildings, some with QR codes that you can scan to listen to the history and stories of the building. While touring the banks of Suzhou Creek or the Huangpu River, it is well worth visiting the Origin of the Bund. On weekends, many newlyweds take photos there, making it very lively.
