It is the stunning Lake Sevan. The largest lake in the Caucasus. Nestled in a massive mountain basin, it is surrounded by the Sevan, Pambak, Vardenis, and Geghama ranges at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level. Countless myths and legends surround Lake Sevan. One tale claims its waters were once so pure and sacred that only the gods and the stars were worthy of a drink. And it truly lives up to the legend—the water is crystal-clear, transparent, and a brilliant azure. It provides a refreshing escape from the heat. For relaxation, there are well-equipped beaches with canopies and sun loungers. Nearby, you'll find several cafes and barbecue areas with tables, perfect for a picnic. I was impressed by how clean everything is. Catamarans, boats, and jet skis are available for rent. The sunsets are breathtaking. I was particularly moved by the evening views of the lake from the Sevanavank Monastery viewpoint. And in the evening, there's fishing. The lake's culinary symbol is the Sevan trout—Ishkhan, which translates to "Prince." Savoring grilled trout and whitefish on the shores of Sevan while watching the sunset is an experience you simply must live through. I visited for two days, and it was a whirlwind of emotions. The photos are magnificent. You can get there from Yerevan via a guided tour or on your own; it's a 60-70 km trip. One weather detail to note: there is a constant breeze.
