Deoksugung is a walled palace complex located in Seoul, South Korea, and the residence of the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty, where the Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place. It is one of the "Five Great Palaces" built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty and is designated as a historical monument . The buildings are made in a variety of styles, including natural cryptomeria wood, painted wood, and stucco. Some buildings were built of stone to replicate Western palace buildings.
