Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is located in Cheonji-dong, Seogwipo City, about 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Jeju Airport via Route 516. Nearby attractions include Saeyeongyo Bridge, a popular nighttime spot and a gateway to Saeseom Island, as well as Geolmae Ecological Park, where you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring. Other nearby destinations include Lee Jung-seop Street, a favorite among tourists, and the Daily Olle Market, making it convenient to include these spots in your travel itinerary. Cheonjiyeon Waterfall has a parking lot at the entrance where you can park for free without any additional fees. It is a paid tourist attraction, with an admission fee of 2,000 KRW for adults and 1,000 KRW for children. Residents of Jeju Island, children under 6, seniors over 65, people with disabilities, national merit recipients, single-parent families, and multi-child families can enter for free by presenting identification or relevant documentation. The tour of Cheonjiyeon Waterfall takes about 30 to 40 minutes, following a circular route around the waterfall. On the way in, you’ll encounter a traditional Jeju boat called "Teu," which was historically used by Jeju residents for fishing, giving visitors a strong sense of Jeju’s cultural heritage. Along the path to the ticket checkpoint, you’ll also see Dolharubang statues, iconic stone figures and cultural relics of Jeju Island. These statues, available in various sizes, are lined up along the route and serve as great photo spots. The Cheonjiyeon Rest Area operates nearby, offering refreshments like Hallabong juice and squid bread. Behind the ticket checkpoint, there’s a souvenir shop where you can purchase various keepsakes and local specialties. Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is surrounded by unique vegetation, including evergreen trees, damppats trees, and rare plants like gujiljatbam trees, camellias, wild citron trees, thorny raspberries, and pine orchids, creating a distinctive landscape. The waterfall itself is 22 meters high, 12 meters wide, and has a depth of 20 meters. It is fed by spring water flowing from the northern Seombancheon Stream, creating a stunning view. The name "Cheonjiyeon" means "a waterfall with Cheonjiso," a pond where heaven and earth meet. Visitors can also see the natural scenery depicted in the Tamna Sunryeokdo, a painting and description created by Yi Hyang-sang, a governor during the Joseon Dynasty.
