Summer blossoms and ancient love stories

Honinji Pond is a scenic spot located in Seogwipo, on Jeju Island, South Korea. It’s especially popular in summer when the red lotus flowers bloom across the pond, creating a picturesque view. The pond covers an area of about 2,644 square meters and is surrounded by lush greenery and seasonal flowers like blue and white hydrangeas. According to local legend, Honinji is the symbolic site where agriculture began on Jeju Island. It’s said that three gods married three princesses from the Kingdom of Byeokrangguk at this very location. They built a castle, dug wells, and started farming—marking the beginning of civilization and agriculture on the island. Honinji Pond commemorates this mythical union and the cultural roots of Jeju.#jeju
