The Sea Ranch Lodge: Cold Coast and Misty Secret Land

Last year, I reunited with my high school classmates after a long time. We drove north from the Bay Area. The highway was shrouded in fog, and a few black birds occasionally flew across the gray sky. White waves crashed against the rocks. In the afternoon, as the sun was about to set, the haze suddenly dissipated. Sunlight poured through the clouds, and the golden and dark red warm light spread across the endless wilderness. The yellow wild grass grew wildly and quietly spread in the light and shadow. There is an abandoned villa and several cabins next to the hotel. That day, many dusty memories of my high school days were triggered, like the novel "The Apartment in the Desolate Village" by Cai Jun, stacks of "Sprout" magazines, iced milk tea with mint syrup, Douban FM, and those unfinished handicrafts and unread comics. Our room was at the corner, with large glass windows and natural materials. The building was low and gently spread along the terrain. The natural light was good, and the coffee shop didn't need lighting. The boundary between indoors and outdoors became blurred here, reminiscent of the coasts of Scotland and Northern Europe, although this land does not belong to the distant north.
