Scarborough Castle

We visited Scarborough Castle whilst on a one day visit to the seaside resort. We travelled by train and walked to the castle via the harbour area. From sea level it is quite a climb up to the castle but the views you get on the way are well worth the effort. The castle itself is built on a high plateau overlooking the north and south beaches at Scarborough and the visitor can get some magnificent views from here over both the surrounding countryside and also the North Sea. A significant section of curtain wall survives on the south side of the site and the whole area is dominated by the Norman keep albeit in its ruined form. Refreshment and toilet facilities are also available to visitors here. We are glad that we made a visit here, the views from the castle are worth the entry fee alone! #scarborough
