The Daewonsa Temple

#koreatrip Daewonsa Temple is located at the eastern foot of Jiri Mountain and is a branch temple of Haeinsa Temple, the headquarters of the 12th Diocese of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It was founded in 1685 (the 12th year of King Sukjong's reign) and was called Daewonam (TiffE). It was rebuilt in 1890 (the 27th year of King Gojong's reign) and was called Daewonsa Temple. In 1955, it was rebuilt and a nun center was opened. The temple of this temple is considered a representative Zen temple in Korea, along with Seoknamsa Temple and Gyeonseongam Temple. The buildings include Daeungjeon, Wontongbojeon, Eunghyangak, Sanwanggak, and Bongiknu, and nuns reside in the Sarirajeon ($7JEx) at the back of the temple.
