Hidden on the slopes of the road towards Golden Waterfall, there is this humble little cafe. We stumbled upon this hidden gem while researching for food around the region before going to Jiu Fen. The cafe has quite a number of seatings, suitable for large groups. Even it seemed hidden, it was packed during lunch hours. Menu was limited but food was good! We ordered Puttanesca with pork pasta, a pork with pepper pizza, tiramisu for dessert and an iced latte. Food was good in general and we thoroughly enjoyed it! In little more than two years, Houtong, which is located 35km east of Taipei in Ruifang district, managed to reinvent itself as a complete cat village. Today, more than 200 cats live in Houtong and a tourist industry has emerged with shops, cafes and restaurants catering to the many visitors who descend on this feline frontier every weekend.
