Meet the Santa Claus in Rovaniemi

If you happen to be in the city of Rovaniemi in northern Finland, don’t forget that you’re also visiting the home of Santa Claus who has an own little village just near the airport. The village is situated at the Arctic circle just across the road from the airport intersection at the E75/4 main road about 10 km north from the city of Rovaniemi. There’s free parking for the car and the village can also be accessed using a bus from the city of Rovaniemi. Just wish the Santa would be less commercially oriented. Everything is fairly expensive but the Christmas is there around the year also for free for window shoppers. Anyway the village is a place for a nice quick visit and it offers a chance to go and meet the Santa in person, although sometimes the queues are quite long. There are also Finnish brand flagship stores, restaurants, cafeterias and a playground for kids. It’s open around the year. Don’t expect the visit to the village to last for the whole day, it’s suitable for a very quick visit instead.
