I dare you to sit on the Spanish Steps

Spanish Steps is a staircase that connects the Piazza di Spagna to Trinità dei Monti (16th-century church). Even though there is "Spanish" in its name, the Steps is actually funded by French money. It was designed by architects Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi and has featured prominently in many movies. Before the new municipal rules introduced in 2019, this was where people were usually sitting and hanging out. It was also common to see Romans having lunch here. Nowadays, if you were caught sitting on the steps, police officers stationed there would usually blow their whistle and wave their hands to signal that sitting is off-limits. Sometimes, they would tolerate if you just want to take a quick photo sitting down. But better be quick! #celebratewithtrip #rome
