Ratchaburi National Museum

The Ratchaburi National Museum was established on November 20, 1986. The Fine Arts Department requested permission to use the original Ratchaburi Provincial Hall building, which was built in 1922 during the reign of King Rama VI, as the location for the establishment of the National Museum under the Fine Arts Department’s project to establish a provincial national museum. Later, in 1996, the Fine Arts Department requested permission to use the Ratchaburi Provincial Government Headquarters building, which was built before 1873 during the reign of King Rama V, as the residence of Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Sri Suriyawong (Chuang Bunnag), the regent during the early reign of King Rama V. Later, it was used as the Ratchaburi Provincial Government Headquarters during the initial establishment of Ratchaburi Province, in order to renovate it to be part of the Ratchaburi National Museum.
