Beautiful Chedi Temple

Wat Phra Chedi Ngam, Songkhla Province 🌿🌻🪷 is an ancient temple in Songkhla Province during the Ayutthaya period, as shown in the map of the city of Phatthalung. This beautiful temple is called Wat Phra Chai Dee Ngam. It is assumed that Wat Phra Chedi Ngam was built in the 13th Buddhist century, contemporaneous with the Srivijaya Kingdom. 🙏🌿🙏 The Phra Mahathat Chedi is assumed to have been built since the 18th Buddhist century due to the architectural style of the chedi. Later, it was renovated and transformed into a Sri Lankan-style chedi, following the style that Phra Anomatatsi brought from Sri Lanka. The chedi is made entirely of coral bricks, arranged without mortar and without a frame, which is a technique of Srivijaya craftsmen. The base of the chedi is rectangular, making it an important ancient chedi. In addition, there are 8 chedis built in a row around it. 🌿🙏🌿 The Bodhisattva shrine is located to the east of the Phra Mahathat Chedi. It enshrines a stucco Buddha image in the meditation posture, which the locals call the Bodhisattva Sri Ariya Maitreya. Bodhisattva according to the beliefs of Mahayana Buddhism during the Srivijaya Kingdom. It is a monk dressed in a Manora costume.
