Upon entering the Shanhaiguan Ancient City, you are greeted by the stone walls and slate roads with a sense of age, and many "indigenous" residents still live here, filling the alleys with the breath of life. There is no clear boundary between tourists and residents. ⛰【Attraction Guide】 📍Detailed Address: Shanhaiguan Ancient City Scenic Area 🗓Itinerary: Enter the ancient city through the South Gate (Wangyang Tower) → South Street → Wang's Grand Courtyard → Bell and Drum Tower → East Street → The First Pass under Heaven 🕙Opening Hours: The ancient city itself is open 24h, but the paid attractions have opening hours from 9:00-17:30 (usually they stop admitting visitors after 17:00) 💰Ticket Price: The ancient city itself is free, but the joint ticket for the 3 attractions is 50 yuan/person, Wang's Grand Courtyard alone is 30 yuan, The First Pass under Heaven alone is 30 yuan, and the Bell and Drum Tower alone is 20 yuan. 🌟Highlights: The city walls and towers of The First Pass under Heaven are really imposing, and you can overlook the entire ancient city. We were lucky to catch the 🌇sunset when we went, which was super beautiful! The garden inside Wang's Grand Courtyard is also very pretty, a hidden gem. 📌Little Tips: There are actually only three attractions in the ancient city that charge a fee, and it generally takes about 3 hours to visit all three. If you're short on time or don't want to go inside, it's completely free. But personally, I think The First Pass under Heaven and Wang's Grand Courtyard are worth visiting, and it's more cost-effective to buy a joint ticket. All tickets are valid for the day of purchase only. We bought a joint ticket but didn't have enough time to see everything, so we only visited Wang's Grand Courtyard and the tower of The First Pass under Heaven. Personally, I feel these two attractions are the essence of the ancient city.
