Meizhou Island Homestay | "Meiyu Time" Awaits You This Spring Known as the "Penglai of the South," Putian's Meizhou Island is the birthplace of Mazu culture, and Mazu is said to be especially efficacious here! On the weekend, I took a train to Putian Railway Station and hired a private car to Meizhou Island Pier. I arrived on the island in the afternoon, rented an electric scooter, and headed straight to the homestay, named "Meiyu Time" 🏠. The small courtyard in front was absolutely charming—filled with delicate flowers and plants, clearly meticulously maintained. The room was spacious, comfortable, and bathed in sunlight. Right across from the homestay was the beach 🏖️, making it super convenient to play in the water. The view of the sea from the window was an amazing surprise! The front yard faces the ocean 🌊—just a cup of coffee ☕ and a plate of desserts 🧁, and a lovely afternoon tea begins! You can also head to the rooftop, which is a great spot for sea views. A few pure white lounge chairs are perfect for sunbathing, and you can see fishing boats dotting the sea and distant mountains. At dusk, I set off for Golden Beach 🏖️, just a three-minute walk from the homestay. I was lucky enough to catch the sunset 🌇, with the golden light spilling over the water and sand [Island]. Walking barefoot by the shore with the sea breeze blowing in my face felt absolutely magical. After a tiring day, I returned for a good night's sleep. The room was spacious, the view outside the window was stunning, the bedding was cozy, and the bathroom had a clean, dry-wet separation design. The toiletries were also high quality. The next morning, I visited the temple to burn incense. Further up the mountain, there’s a Mazu Temple, said to house the world’s largest Mazu stone statue, as well as Mazu statues made of jade and gold—truly awe-inspiring. The butler service was excellent, preparing a hearty breakfast and fresh fruit daily. Sitting by the window, enjoying delicious food while gazing at the sea—pure bliss! On Meizhou Island, take your time to savor the charm of everyday life. Stroll to the beach and watch local women weaving and drying fishing nets; see old boats resting on the sand; or sit on the exposed rocks at Meiyu Tide Sound and listen to the island’s loudest waves 🌊.
