Superb dark beer garlicy gravy that reminded me of my granny

#2024mapped Prague, as opposed to being part of Eastern Europe, prices in many restaurants are quite high—and yet unworthy. But not this cafe. 📍Cafe Louvre Národní 22, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia 🕰️Business Hours: 8am (9am on Sat/Sun) to 11.30pm 💞Reasons to Recommend: Though the name suggests that it’s a tourist favourite—and indeed it is—but it is also many locals’ favourite. And it’s priced very reasonably. I visited it only starting the 3rd day of my visit, and eversince then I did every meal of mine here to try out as many items on the menu as I could. What captured me on the first meal was confit pork shoulder in dark beer gravy on the bed of potato puree. The pork shoulder was tender at some parts and fiberish like chicken breast in some other; but the star here was the sauce, which was to die for. It was packed with so much depth of flavors; I only managed to tell garlic and some fermented grain flavor which probably came from beer, but trust me, it’s divine. Such a perfect pairing with the ultra creamy/smooth mashed potatoes. I requested for more sauce and they gave me one whole Aladdin magic lamp of sauce for free 🫣🤣😍 Then I came again for the pistachio puff and dark chocolate drink, which the cafe was particularly renowned for. Personally, I’d like the pistachio flavor to be more prominent, but the dark chocolate was quite the most intense a chocolate drink it can get, because I might even say it’s a chocolate sauce than drink 😂 During one of my visits, I managed to talk to one of the patrons in the next table, and they enjoyed the foie gras pate (on toasted baguette) a lot. I didn’t like a baguette so eventually I ordered something else with foie gras, which I didn’t enjoy it at all and I believe wasn’t the same type of foie gras. So I’d suggest peeps to stick with the pate instead. One thing I like of this place is it runs pretty late! Till 11.30pm, which allows me to have more flexibility to my daily itinerary. And tho it’s always crowded, the place is huge and turnover is quick, so I always get seated in about 10mins. 💰Average Price per Person: €10
