Day Trip to Potsdam - 40 Mins from Berlin City Centre ✨

📍 Itinerary Overview Took a little breather from Berlin’s buzz and hopped over to Potsdam for the day — and honestly, it felt like I stepped into a painting. Grand palaces, quiet gardens, and cobbled streets with a Dutch flair... it’s hard to believe this calm is just 40 minutes away. 🚩 Sightseeing Route I started the morning at Sanssouci Palace — definitely the crown jewel. After wandering through the park (don’t rush, it’s massive and peaceful), I made my way to the New Palace — bigger, bolder, and less crowded. Later, I wandered into the Dutch Quarter — think cute red-brick houses, little cafés, and boutiques. I wrapped up the day at the Glienicke Bridge — standing at the edge of Cold War history. 🏖️ Must-Visit Attractions Sanssouci Palace (book your time slot!) New Palace Dutch Quarter Glienicke Bridge Cecilienhof (if you love WWII history) 🚇 Transportation Getting there was super easy — I took the S7 train from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (about 40 minutes). Just make sure you buy a Berlin ABC ticket, and you’re all set for the day. 📷 Photo Spots The vineyards and terraces of Sanssouci — iconic! The front of the New Palace — dramatic symmetry Dutch Quarter — very aesthetic and lowkey Sunset view from Glienicke Bridge — unexpectedly beautiful 🍜 Local Cuisine Stopped for lunch at a café in the Dutch Quarter — had a really cozy potato soup and a local beer. Nothing fancy, but it hit the spot after hours of walking. 🏠 Accommodation I stayed in Berlin and came back in the evening. But if you’re thinking of slowing down, Potsdam does have cute boutique hotels (I spotted Hotel Am Jägertor and it looked really charming). 💡 Tips Go early — it gets warm and busier by noon Wear shoes you can walk in for hours If you want to enter palaces, check ticket times in advance Bring snacks or water — park areas are beautiful but not super commercial Honestly, it was one of my favorite day trips this summer. If you’re already in Berlin and craving something a little slower, greener, and grand — Potsdam is 100% worth the ride. 🫶
