Chapel of Souls

#celebratewithtrip Chapel of Souls also known as Capela das Almas in Portuguese, and is located in Rua de Santa Catarina 428, 4000-124 Proto, Portugal. It is open daily 0700-1830 and is around 100 meters 1 minute walk from Bolhao. It originates from an old wooden chapel built in honor of Santa Caterina. The construction of the building that exists today dates back to the end of the 18th century. Until 1929, the external surfaces of the chapel were free of tiles, removed or severely damaged. The current roof of the chapel is made up of 15947 azulejos ( tiles ) covering an area of 360 square meters. This chapel is famous for its exterior of blue and white titles painted with scenes from the lives of saints.
