Malele River

Some admirable rivers in Porac, Pampanga are Pitagmuan (Malele) and Camalig Rivers. Malele means “Mag Lele”, a phrase meaning "step aside" or "halt first." The water of this river comes from the Poblacion or the baywalk. Pitagmuan refers to tagpuan, a meeting place between this river and the Camalig where the water meets. The Malele river is full of kampapasi, plants that can be made into brooms after they die. These kampapasi plants were also used by President Ferdinand Marcos during world war 2 (1945). He was one of the political prisoners who marched from the Bataan Death March. He escaped the line and headed to the Mountain of Porac, where he got wounded on his arm. While he was in fields in Barangay Pio Porac, a person name Mr. Nacu found him under a massive trunk of an Antipolo tree. Mr. Nacu helped the wounded Marcos, using the plant Kampapasi bondage with a handkerchief and leading the young soldier's escape to the Japanese Army. When Ferdinand Marcos became President, he recalled the man who helped him and saved his life. The man who helped him was from Porac. #mauthetourguide #proudporaqueno #maleleriverkampapasi #puragtraveltoursagency #poractourism
