Lublin Voivodeship

Lublin Voivodeship is a province in eastern Poland. Its capital is Lublin. Its population is 2,199,100 (2002). In 1965, it had an area of ​​24,829 square kilometers and a population of 1,900,500. In 1998, the area was 6,793 square kilometers and the population was 1,027,300. Lublin Castle Lublin has been the target of attacks by Tatars, Ruthenes, Yotvingians and Lithuanians, and on some occasions the city was even destroyed. It became a city in 1317. Polish King Casimir the Great, aware of the strategic value of this place, built a stone castle here in 1341 and surrounded it with defensive walls.
