Poio stone stilt warehouses

The Galicia region is located in the northwestern corner of Spain, bordering northern Portugal. There is a small fishing village called Poio in the port town of Pontehedra. Indigenous stone stilt warehouses built by the Galician people, who are of Celtic descent, line the seaside. Galicia is a land of faith centered around Santiago, a pilgrimage site for Catholics who came to protect the Iberian Peninsula from Islamic invasion. Christian culture and Celtic ethnic culture are fused together, making it a region that gives off a different impression to the typical image of Spain.
