A historic town with several prehistoric funeral monuments. In the earliest times, Palagrugell was an important settlement. The archaeological site at Plaça del Palol also provides evidence of Roman presence in the village. During this period, the construction of the Benedormiens Castle began, which is also the origin of the Castle of Aro.
