Shuanglin Temple is about half an hour away from Pingyao Ancient City. I booked a reliable half-day car rental on Trip.com and spent half a day visiting Shuanglin Temple and Zhenguo Temple. The "First Weituo" clay sculpture is in Shuanglin Temple. As I entered the hall, I was greeted by the sight of Bodhisattvas with flowing robes, as if time had stopped the moment I opened the door. The air gently blew the corners of the statues' robes, making them look lifelike. In November, Shanxi is no longer a popular destination, and the temples have returned to their centuries-old tranquility. I stood in the Hall of a Thousand Buddhas for a long time, admiring the majestic and vivid Weituo. It was as if the air froze when we made eye contact. I was amazed by the craftsmanship of ancient artists.
