Rongjin Ancient Town, Pingle, Guangxi.

Rongjin Ancient Town was built in the early Song Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is said that the first person to come here was a wandering monk from the late Tang Dynasty to the early Song Dynasty. The monk was fascinated by the green water and green mountains here, so he chose a mound shaped like a duck to build a shed and live here, and then he took in several monks who wandered here. In the early Northern Song Dynasty, the first temple, Longyi Temple, was built on the bank of Rongjin River. Due to the completion of the temple, there were many pilgrims, and some businessmen from eastern Guangdong began to settle and do business here. Rongjin Ancient Town is located 25 kilometers southeast of Pingle County, Guangxi. It is located at the confluence of two tributaries of the Lijiang River, Rongjin River and Shajiang River. You can reach Guilin by boat to the north, and Wuzhou and Guangzhou to the south and east. Therefore, this was also a bustling inland port in eastern Guangxi in ancient times. Rongjin Ancient Town is famous for its many banyan trees and Rongjin River along the street. The old street of Rongjin is full of nostalgic atmosphere. The houses are deep and long, with horse-head walls, green bricks and plain tiles, wooden buildings with flying eaves, and reliefs on the ridges and roofs, which look like flowers, plants, birds and animals. The ancient street of Rongjin Ancient Town has been well preserved for thousands of years. Its main street, Rongjin Street, is relatively intact. Most of the houses on the street are southern folk brick-wood structures. The Kui Xing Building, ancient stage, and Guangdong East Guild Hall basically maintain their original appearance. The green bricks and green tiles, and the flying eaves and flowing arches reflect the elegant and simple style of ancient Chinese southern town buildings. The ancient town is surrounded by ancient banyan trees, and there are many ponds. The ancient streets, ancient banyan trees, and pearl-like ponds complement each other, forming a unique scenery of the ancient market in Lingnan, and the ancient town is therefore known as "Rongjin".
