Wat Mongkol Nimit, Royal Monastery, Mueang Phuket District Originally called Wat Klang because it is located in the city center, it was built around 1880. And it is the place where state ceremonies and royal ceremonies were held. Later, the temple's name was changed to "Wat Mongkol Nimit". It is a large brick and mortar Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude. Originally, this Buddha image was plastered with white cement and placed on the ground without a pedestal. The people of Phuket called it Luang Pho Khao. Later, a chedi was built and gilded.
