Wat Chalong monetary 🇹🇭

#traveldiaries Wat Chalong Monastery was built at the beginning of the 19th century, and the real name of the monastery is Wat Chaiyathararam. It is the largest temple in Phuket and one of the most visited monasteries by locals and Thai tourists. Among the successive monks who founded Wat Chalong, Luang Pho Cham and Luang Pho Chuang, 2 monks, are famous for leading the local monks and fighting the invaders in the Chinese rebellion of 1876. It is said that they helped those who were injured in the battle by preparing and treating them with traditional medicine. Inside the monastery, there is a 60-meter-high pagoda named 'Wu Chalong Bahtaw'. It was recently built and has 3 floors inside. The interior walls and ceilings of the pagoda are decorated with paintings depicting the life of the Buddha. Visitors can enter and see the monastery premises from above. #traveldiaries #localguides
