The Legend of the Love of Lady Soi Dok Mak

According to legend, before the Ayutthaya period, Princess Soi Dok Mak, the daughter of the Chinese king, was given to King Sai Nam Phueng of Ayutthaya. When she sailed back to Ayutthaya, King Sai Nam Phueng ordered her to wait on his royal barge before entering the Grand Palace to have a procession to welcome her with proper respect. When the procession came to receive her, King Sai Nam Phueng did not see her personally. She was upset and waited on the boat, refusing to go up. King Sai Nam Phueng then said that if she did not want to go up, she should stay there. This happened twice until she became upset.
