Wat Sri Komkham, pay homage to the largest Buddha statue in the North

#VisitSecondaryCities 🙏Wat Sri Kom Kham, locals call it Wat Tung Aiang or Wat Phra Chao Ton Luang, is a third-class royal temple built in 2067 during the time of Phra Mueang Tu, the governor of Phayao. 🙏Inside the chapel is the principal Buddha image, Phra Chao Ton Luang, the sacred Buddha image of the Lanna Kingdom. It is a gilded stucco Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, Chiang Saen style, and the largest in the North. It is 14 meters wide and 16 meters high. It was built in 2034 during the time of Phra Mueang Yi, the governor of Phayao, and was completed in 2067. 🏰Later, the temple deteriorated over time and was gradually renovated. In 2467, Khru Ba Srivichai came to build the current royal chapel along with other buildings. 🏰The pediment of the royal chapel is covered in floral patterns, which is a unique feature of the architecture built or renovated by Khru Ba Srivichai, who combined the characteristics of central Thai architecture perfectly. Interesting things in the temple include: 🏚 Small hall with ancient footprints of the Buddha, found at the pagoda of Wat Suan Chan Nai, which is now deserted. 🙏 Phra Chao Tan Jai is enshrined in a small hall in front of the temple. 🏚 Ubosot in the middle of the water, Lanna art in a modified style, located on the edge of Kwan Phayao. Inside, there are intricately decorated murals painted by Ajarn Angkhan Kalayanaphong, a national artist. Open for viewing only on Buddhist holy days and during important temple events. 🙏 During Visakha Bucha Day of each year, there is a tradition of worshipping Phra Chao Ton Luang (the eighth lunar month of the Lanna calendar). ðŸ’Ĩ Wat Sri Kom Kham: Tambon Wiang, Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province 🌐 Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/feymuSKFapLR17pS9 🕕 Opening - closing hours: 06.00 a.m. - 06.30 p.m. #Phayao #VisitPhayao #PhayaoAttractions
