Wat Nak Prok Phasi Charoen

As a child who has lived in Bangkok, I will take my friends to explore beautiful places or places that are old and ancient to present to my friends. But this trip, I will take my friends to visit an old temple in the Phasi Charoen area. If you mention Phasi Charoen area, many people will think of Wat Pak Nam. But this time, I will take my friends to a temple that is not far from Wat Pak Nam. It is also beautiful and has a past. Wat Nak Prok was built in 2291 during the reign of King Borommakot (19 years before the fall of Ayutthaya), which was in the late Ayutthaya period. It is a temple that people in the community built together. Originally, this temple was called Wat Pok because it was located in the middle of a garden that looked like a forest covering it. Later, this temple deteriorated until during the reign of King Rama III, Mr. Phuk Sae Tan (Phra Boriboon Thanakorn) and his wife, who were Thais, renovated the chapel and had craftsmen from China paint murals of Chinese auspicious objects and various offerings in Chinese Mahayana art. He also requested a Sukhothai Buddha image that King Rama I had collected from various cities to be the principal Buddha image. The principal Buddha image enshrined in that temple has a seven-headed Naga serpent spreading its hood. It is a stucco figure. The Buddha image is in the Mara-Vijaya Samrit posture. The villagers therefore called it Wat Nak Prok, which is where it is today. #Worship and ask for blessings #Thai temple
