Colorful and sunny little town

After carcassonne we were trying to make our way to Barcelona. I was trying to think of a place that would help explore the Pyrenees region. Perpignan seemed comfortably placed and while there was no raving feedback from people i knew, i figured it would be worth getting to know on my own. In terms of just that reason, as a place to help explore the Pyrenees region, Perpignan fares pretty well. While that wasn't the main focus, I wanted to glimpse the region that I hadn't been able to all these years. The spanish border is less than 10 miles away and the languedoc region can be easily reached from here. During my time i was able to explore the old town, retain the benefit of an urban stay and there were beaches too. It's actually a very colorful place. And the weather was perfect for beach days. The night life experiences were satisfactory. It's got a vibrant night scene. It was nothing to brag about, but turned out to be a purposeful stay. Three days later, the cross border TGV line allowed us a smooth travel to Barcelona under an hour.
