Palais-Royal

Palais-Royal Originally known as the Palais-Cardinal, it is a former royal palace located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France. Opposite the palace's front entrance is the Louvre. In 1830, the northern part of the palace's inner court, the Cour d'Honneur, was enclosed by perhaps the most famous arcade in Paris, the Galerie d'Orléans. Although the arcade was demolished in the 1930s, its colonnades still stand between the Court of Honour and the popular Royal Palace Gardens. The Royal Palace is now the seat of French government agencies such as the Ministry of Culture, the Supreme Administrative Court and the Constitutional Council.
