Explore the "Holy City" of Turkey - Hierapolis.

🌅 The first rays of morning sunlight fall on the ancient ruins of Hierapolis in Denizli Province, Turkey, as if draping a mysterious veil over this ancient city. Hierapolis, known as the "Holy City," carries a thousand years of history and culture. 📜 The ancient city of Hierapolis was founded in the 2nd century BC by King Eumenes II of Pergamon in the early 2nd century BC. The name of the ancient city was taken from his wife, Hiera, meaning "sacred." It was not only an ancient Greek city but also the center of ancient Roman baths, witnessing the prosperity of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. 🏛️ Walking into Hierapolis is like traveling back in time to the Roman period. The ruins of ancient cemeteries, large baths, markets, arches, amphitheaters, and more are faintly visible, making one marvel at the wisdom and architectural talent of the ancients. 🔍 In the archaeological museum of the ancient city of Hierapolis, you can admire a large number of unearthed statues and sarcophagi, which bear witness to the splendor of ancient Greek and Roman culture. In addition, the ancient hot spring pools and travertine landscapes are also attractions not to be missed by visitors. 💔 However, the ancient city of Hierapolis is not only glorious but also closely linked to "death." The legendary "Gate of Hell," ancient tombs, and the destruction brought by an overnight earthquake all add a mysterious color to this city. 🌈 Nevertheless, the ancient city of Hierapolis still attracts countless tourists to explore. Here, you can feel the weight of history and the charm of culture, as if having a cross-time dialogue with the ancients. 💖 If you love history and culture, then the ancient city of Hierapolis is definitely a travel destination you cannot miss! Here, you can appreciate the charm of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and feel the weight of history and the depth of culture.

#bucketlistreboot I am fascinated with Greek culture- hence a visit of the museum in Hierapolis is a must. To get there you must follow a tour. it’s really tricky if you want to take a public transport. A full day is required if want to visit all the area as it is really big. I will introduce the museum to those who appreciate stones and don’t mind to see stone coffin . the cravings starts to destroy and no restoration as of now as it came as original . Note that to visit museum , one have to pay extra. Somehow the guard did not ask me for that so I went in for free. This is a good place to hide from sun as the rest of the place is open air.
