Turkey: Hierapolis ancient city🏛️

Hierapolis was founded in the 2nd century BC. It was an important trading center, attracting merchants and tourists from across the Roman Empire. It was also famous for its hot springs and spas, which have healing properties. In the 4th century AD, Hierapolis was destroyed by the Arabs. The city was never rebuilt and fell into disrepair over time. The remains of Hierapolis were rediscovered in the 19th century and have since become a major tourist destination. Today the ancient city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with well-preserved ruins including theatres, gymnasiums, temples, baths and an ancient theater.
