Wat Phu Temple [Python Elephant Crocodile Dragon] Angkor Temple World Heritage in Laos

I re-line-drawed the three stone carvings on the top of Wat Phu Temple: python/crocodile/elephant. This is a very rare way of worshiping Hindu idols. It is the absolute highlight of Wat Phu Temple! The python/crocodile theme is not common in Khmer-style architecture. Elephants are usually used as corner pillars or Indra mounts. Only the snake god Naga is the most common decoration. ① The giant python [Sarpa] is used as a step facility, but according to the carved patterns and body direction, it should be a supporting facility for the spring at the top of the mountain to flow to the lingam at the foot of the mountain. ②Elephant [Gaja] The natural rock on the top of Wapu Temple is lifelikely carved and serves as a protector of Hinduism and Buddhism, adapting to local conditions. ③Crocodile [Kumbhira] This is a relatively rare theme in Khmer-style architecture. The crocodile head stone carvings are usually used as pool faucets, but here it is speculated that it may also be a torture instrument. ④The dragon king in Naga mythology is divided into seven, five, and three heads according to the level of the building and the dignity of the owner.
