Padua Botanical Garden, famous for its earliest

The Botanical Gardens of Padua near Venice was built in 1545. It is the oldest botanical garden in the world still existing on its original site and has therefore been listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site. The tropical and subtropical plants in the garden, such as magnolia, cactus and palm, were considered novel by Europeans at that time, but today's tourists from tropical and subtropical areas find them unremarkable.
