Tsuyu no Tenjin Shrine, widely known as Ohatsu Tenjin, is the site of a puppet theater piece by Chikamatsu Monzaemon, based on a true story of a double suicide that took place within the shrine grounds in 1703. Since then, the shrine has come to be called Ohatsu Tenjin after the heroine's name, Ohatsu. The shrine is said to grant blessings in matchmaking, safe childbirth, prayers for beauty, academic success, business success, financial luck, and healing of skin diseases. It is located between buildings, through the bustling downtown area from Osaka Station, but the grounds are very quiet.
