After exiting JR Omihachiman Station, walk straight along the main street toward Nakamura-cho. After about a 15-minute walk, you will see a long earthen wall that retains the garden style of the Edo period. What comes into view is the majestic Buddhist temple [Saiko-ji]. This typical Japanese Buddhist temple was founded by Oda Nobunaga in the 15th century. From the front porch with stone steps to the exquisite wooden temple building, the majestic main hall statue of the three Amitabha Buddhas is enshrined inside.
