Hulunbuir: A 6-Day, 5-Night Itinerary for a Hassle-Free Family Trip

Last year, I was captivated by the stunning views from the Huhonor Lake View Hotel room, so I took my child on a trip to Hulunbuir. In August, there weren't many tourists, and we enjoyed sunny skies every day, making for a relatively pleasant travel experience. Be sure to wear sunscreen! 👏Transportation Since our group consisted of mothers with children, and considering our unfamiliarity with the routes in a new city, we opted for a chartered car for a more relaxed trip. After landing in Hailar, the driver picked us up at the airport and helped with our luggage, which was a huge relief.👍 Every morning, the driver would depart based on our wake-up time, offering us flexibility and freedom. Along the way, he also shared some local history and customs with the children, making the trip both fun and educational. 👏Here are some of my personal highlights: ✔️The sunrise at Huhonor Lake was breathtaking (I recommend staying for 2 nights). ✔️The Matryoshka Hotel Square felt like stepping into a fairytale. ✔️Taking the kids to the Mammoth Park in Manzhouli, where the science museum was a hit. ✔️Skip horseback riding at Heishantou for sunset; it's not worth the sore bottom. ✔️Driving a go-kart with the kids across the grasslands and rivers. 👏We flew directly from Ningbo to Hailar and back. Here's our itinerary: ✅Day 1: Depart from Hailar District - Huhonor Lake - Watch the stunning sunset - Stay at a unique lake view hotel - Attend a bonfire party on the grassland. ✅Day 2: Watch the sunrise at Huhonor Lake - Depart for the Morigele River Scenic Area - Journey through the heart of the grassland to witness its hidden beauty - Erguna Wetland - Arrive in Genhe and check into a detached wooden cabin. ✅Day 3: Depart from Genhe - Get up close and personal with reindeer in the forest🦌 - Learn to ride a horse - Drive go-karts on the grassland - Stay in a luxurious yurt at the Green Field Camp. ✅Day 4: Horseback riding in Heishantou - Visit a herder's family, ride the popular mini-train, milk cows, feed sheep, and take photos in Mongolian costumes - Slide down the 286-kilometer slide - Arrive in Manzhouli in the evening and check into the Matryoshka Hotel. ✅Day 5: Depart from Manzhouli - Matryoshka Square Amusement Park - Mammoth Park (the children's science museum is great) - Matryoshka Square Circus Show (a must-see) - Manzhouli Night Market - Stay in Manzhouli. ✅Day 6: Depart from Manzhouli - Hulunbuir History Museum - Buy souvenirs like beef jerky and milk candies - Depart from Hailar back to Ningbo. 🔴Tips for Family Travel from June to September: 1️⃣Hulunbuir experiences significant temperature differences between day and night, so be sure to pack a jacket for both wind and sun protection. 2️⃣The local climate is very dry. My child had nosebleeds every day, so bring saline solution for children with rhinitis❗️❗️Mothers, pack plenty of moisturizing skincare products. 3️⃣Always keep hotel doors closed to prevent insects from flying in. Mosquito repellent is a must. 4️⃣For families with children, I recommend a chartered car for more flexibility and a less restricted travel experience.
