Originally intending just a brief stop, I was captivated by the beauty of the beach and stayed for two days. Waves surged, and the black dots shimmering on the crests turned out to be fish—a peculiar and magnificent sight, like a mysterious gift from nature. Here, there are no crowds of tourists, only the vast ocean, gentle sea breeze, and freely swimming fish. Every moment allows you to experience the purest charm of the sea. Lying on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves, it feels as if time stands still for this beautiful scenery. City Exploration, Resolving a Minor Hiccup However, travel is never always smooth sailing. A sandstorm damaged our car's sliding door, filling the tracks with sand. Fortunately, Nicola, the campsite owner, kindly directed us to a Frenchman named Trier in downtown Nouakchott for repairs. Don't imagine the city center as a bustling area with skyscrapers. The city center here is actually a crossroad area, and the landmark is a dolphin sculpture. The owner's instruction, "Drive straight ahead until you see the dolphin," added a touch of fun to the search for the repair shop. Navigating this unique city center, experiencing the distinct urban atmosphere of Nouakchott, every street corner seemed to hide an untold story. Treasure Hunting at the Market, Savoring the Local Life Early the next morning, we passed by a large market. Located by the main road near a gas station, the market was bustling with activity. There were flocks of sheep, fresh mutton, and lamb roasted on-site. A whole roasted leg of lamb cost only 70 yuan, offering excellent value. Here, you can not only satisfy your taste buds but also experience the rich local life. Vendors enthusiastically greeted customers, and the sounds of bargaining filled the air. Here's the highlight! The baguette here is definitely the best I've had since leaving France. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of wheat aroma. One bite brings pure bliss. Traffic jams are common around the market, and this bustling scene reflects its central role in local life.
