#travelinspiration My Trip to Seattle North Falls National Park Day 1. Thunder Knob Trail: One - way distance is 1.8 miles. It starts with a rocky road and a small stream. After climbing, it's sunny and hot with many dirt roads. The round - trip takes about 2 hours. The view of Diablo Lake from the mountaintop is great, a must - visit. • Diablo Lake Overlook: Has a parking lot. No need to climb. Spend about 10 - 15 minutes. The view is unobstructed, perfect for photos. • Washington Pass: Wide view of mountains and highways. In summer, snow melts a lot. A 5 - 10 - minute stop is enough. • Three Fingered Jack's Saloon: Arrived at 7 pm on Saturday. Waited 20 minutes for a seat and 50 minutes for food. The food is average, but drinks are refillable for free. • AbbyCreen Inn: Good service, great rooms, an outdoor pool and lawn. Room rate includes breakfast with self - made waffles. Day 2. Rainy Lake Trail: No climbing, fully paved. There's a waterfall at the start. It takes 30 minutes one - way to Rainy Lake. You can boat and swim there. The scenery is not as good as Diablo Lake but still nice with views of snow - capped mountains and waterfalls. • Lake Shannon Recreation Area: On the way back to Seattle. No prior plan, but it turned out great. Access requires a long, bumpy dirt road. People boat, ride water motorcycles, swim, and picnic here. There are pavilions and bathrooms.
