This square, you cannot afford to miss, because of its characteristics checkboard pavement tiles across its entire surface and the neoclassical buildings in Italian style with vibrant red facades and pastel green shutters on the windows. Just around the square, you will find many restaurants and shops, like Galeries Lafayette and many more. It is worth paying attention to the sculpture and fountain standing in the semi-circular part of the square, called the Fountain of the Sun and consists of sculptures symbolizing the planets. If you fancy a relaxing stroll or sit in the park try the Paillon Promenade and childrens biggest attraction "water mirror" ( fountain ). Walking along Paillon Promenade you will see another 19th century monument that is Andre Massena, one of the best Napoleonic general. The whole area is a great place to watch everyday, an unhurried lifestyle of the inhabitants of Nice, relaxing among the green and fountains.
