The Guggenheim Museum

#newyorktrip The Guggenheim is an architectural marvel designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright; the spiraling layout of the museum creates a cool continuous effect of viewing art as you navigate upwards through the building. The museum has great contemporary art pieces on each level; I was there in November 2023, when the main exhibition was “Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility,” which featured a variety of thought-provoking pieces. I also appreciated the exhibition in the side rooms about experimental art in South Korea during the 1960s and 70s. The café is also lovely and pleasant to sit in.

Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

The Guggenheim Museum is an amazing museum to visit. It has beautiful abstract architecture that sets the tone of the experience from the moment you step in. It is home for some of the most valuable pieces of art in the world, from some of the most well-known artists in human history. You can walk in and see artwork from greats such as Vincent van Gogh, Picasso, Monet and many others. It is surreal to see paintings that you have seen many times in books and other media up close and personal, getting to witness history firsthand. Even if you are not an avid fan of fine art, there is audio tours that give you extra insight into the history, context and meaning of each artwork so that you can appreciate their individual significance. #historicculture #museumquest #artexhibit #summervacation#hotelstay#urbanexplorer
