Hotel Palafitte, Neuchatel Switzerland
#staycation - Staying In A Room Over Water
Address : Hôtel Palafitte, Route des Gouttes-d'Or 2, 2008 Neuchâtel, Switzerland
Built on stilts over Switzerland's largest lake - Lake Neuchâtel, this sophisticated and unique 38 room 5-star hotel, lies 3 km from the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire Museum and 4 km from the famous castle : Le chateau de Neuchâtel.
Incidentally, the city of Neuchâtel is the French speaking capital of the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel, situated on the shoreline of Lake Neuchâtel.
Each of the chic and contemporary rooms / pavilions feature hardwood floors and are furnished as junior suites. The hotel consists of 38 individuals pavilions, some are on shore, and some over the water, and each comes with it's very own private terrace , with the ones over water overlooking the beautiful lake.
Contemporary room amenities include a standard flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi and minibar. A queen sized bed with super soft linens, premium bedding and plush pillows made my stay cosy and enjoyable. Also included is my forever favourite Nespresso machine with capsules and certainly the whirlpool in-door bathtub which is a must soak ! Pure luxury !
For my short stay, I chose the lake pavilion so that I can enjoy the tranquil calm of the water throughout the day and night.
There’s also a modern restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows where you enjoy buffet breakfast and other meals. Other amenities include a fashionable bar, sun loungers where you can chill and soak up the sun during summer.
If you have some time to spare, you can perhaps arrange for a tour of the old town area and explore the historical architecture dominated by soft, yellow sandstone buildings, a truly picturesque quarter with old houses of the 16th and 17th century. Or you can visit one of the meseums like the Museum d'histoire naturelle or Musée d'Art et d'Histoire.
Otherwise, simply relax and enjoy the surrounding waters from your pavilion terrace !

The Swiss town of Neuchâtel - a medieval town on the southeast coast!
The Swiss town of Neuchâtel is a medieval town on the southeast coast. Because it caught up with the Rose Festival, I took the Rose Train and went around the town. It's a beautiful town!
Built with light yellow bricks, Neuchâtel is the largest city on the lakeside, located at the northwest end of the lake!
The old city center has a magnificent castle, cafes, restaurants, shops, theaters and museums are lined up, a French romantic style, making tourists linger!
